Six things all you girls NEED to do when you're in a bad mood- Shopping with intu Derby

We all know that life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, I mean, I wish it was, but it just isn't. This means that from time to time we all need to take a step back for our own sanity. A step back from the crazy whirlwind that is everyday life; the do list the length of our arm, the constant pressure from ourself (and others) to achieve, and the need to always do more in life.

A never ending roundabout of absolute stress- just pass a girl a glass of wine already. Let’s face it, even the happiest of people don’t have a smile on their faces, everyday. But I do know one thing, those bad moods can be redeemed.

So, the next time you're having a 'down day', here's a few down time methods that have been helping me massively when it comes to learning to totally switch off and relax...

Cosy up like a cocoon
1.) Let's face it nothing beats cozying up on the sofa with your duvet ready to watch your favourite film, or tv series for that matter. You know those days where if it involves getting changed out of your pjs, then you might as well forget it? Well we all need a few of those days every now and then.

Splash the cash
2.) Every girl understands the sheer excitement of a new piece of clothing, or an entire new outfit if you're feeling really spend-y. I recently visited intu Derby as part of their ‘welcome to our world’ campaign, and I’ve got to say, I felt like a brand new girl after an afternoon enjoying myself in their shopping centre.

I picked up all of my favourite beauty and hair products in Boots in time for my holiday (win), treated my lovely Grandma to a new top, ate out of this world pasta and garlic bread, washed down with prosecco and vodka cocktails at Zizzi, and finished what had been a perfect day with a bit of bowling...

...surprisingly, i had the child barriers up, and still I didn’t win ;) such a pro bowler, I know. But despite my bowling fail I had the most lovely day, just relaxing and indulging, it really did help to take my mind of other worries.

So I can confirm that it works wonders for your mood, and yep, it may not be so brill for your bank account, but hey, there's always tomorrow to worry about that. Here's three words to live by; BUY THE SHOES.

Soak away your sorrows
3.) Is there anything that a scorching hot bubble bath can't solve? Um yes. But listen to this...

When I say bubble bath, I mean really go ALL OUT. Grab a bright bath bomb, pour a huge glass of wine- maybe even treat yourself to some chocolate if you feel like indulging- light about ten candles for maximum affect and relaxation, AND THEN shut the door and say cya to the world for at least twenty minutes.

I promise you that your mood will be improved by at least 10% after doing so.

- PS: Don't even think about letting your phone in on all of the fun, just don't. I mean, I won't lie, I'm extremely clumsy, and would end up dropping my phone in the bath so I'm not even tempted... but just in case you are. You'll sabotage all chance of maximum relaxation levels, this is time for you.

Pampered to perfection
4.) Feel a bit of a state? A massive pamper session will sort you out. Have a rummage in your cupboards for a posh moisturiser, grab your finest nail varnishes, and maybe if you're feeling really fancy, sit back and relax with a face mask.

Order a takeaway/rustle up your favourite food
5.) As a massive food lover... (greedy pig), this one works every time for me. One large pizza, and a tub of ice-cream later, and you can bet I might be feeling a bit sick, but definitely happier.

Oh, and rumour has it calories don't count when you're in a right mood, remember that one. Yeah, alright Lauren, don't kid yourself.

Gossip with your gal pals
6.) And last, but certainly not least, have a good old gossip. Call your friends round- or in my case, my mum- and put the world to rights.

I'm sure if you have really good friends they won't mind if you rant about the same thing for an hour, that's what friends are for, right?! Right.

And if you're still in a mood after following all of these steps, maybe a few cocktails will help, who knows? What do you do when you're feeling a bit rubbish?

*This post was created in collaboration with Intu Derby, however my love of shopping, cocktails and bowling is of course all my own*

M.E Awareness Day | What does it feel like to have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis

"What does it feel like to have M.E?" Is a question that I get asked all too often from a huge amount of people, and if I'm being completely honest, it's an extremely hard one to answer. But, being as this week is M.E awareness week I thought that I'd give answering it a go. All I ask of you for the next five minutes is to put yourself into an ME sufferers shoes- not literally, ha, you can borrow my tiny size 2’s if you'd like to though- imagine that this is the reality of your daily life. So, brace yourself, you're just about to feel really damn awful, here goes...

Depression and chronic illness... the good, the bad and the extremely ugly days

As painful and difficult as it is to admit, sometimes, just sometimes you have to take a step back and say 'd'ya know what? I don't want to fake it til’ I make it today, I'm completely exhausted from trying to be stronger than I feel and pretending that I’m okay when I’m not’.
