Why you should never give up on your dreams | Ft. Strawberry doughnut milkshake cupcake recipe

If you'd have told me four years ago that I'd become a baking fanatic, I'd have laughed witch cackled in your face. Yep, I repeat, witch cackled. (Let's just say that I haven't been blessed with one of those cute girly giggles, and I still continue to feel deeply saddened to this day about it).

The very reason that I'd have laughed my horrendous laugh in your face is because way back then I was complete and utterly useless at baking, and that's no exaggeration either, as by my own definition, I was no Mary Berry! Think sloppy buttercream, sponge that had failed to rise, and shoddy decorating 'skills'... Basically, I had the skills of a five year old child making a few Peppa Pig box mix fairy cakes, which is cute when're you're five, just not so much so when you're older.

But that's just the thing you see, like any hobby you start to develop a keen interest in, you're never going to be perfect at it when you first start out- which is exactly why you shouldn't let that dishearten you. Always stick at doing something that you enjoy, as the saying "the expert in anything was once a beginner" applies to everything that you do in life.

These days I'm baking cupcakes that I'd never, ever thought that I'd have the skills required to be able to do so, which is exactly why I'm so passionate about telling people that they can achieve anything if they stick at it. Don't get me wrong, I still have my off days- like with any creative hobby- some days I'll excel, and others, well, maybe not so much so.

So, you've just started driving lessons? Here's your reminder to carry on- even when you feel like quitting because you've just stalled for the fifth time- you'll be driving in no time with a bit of persistence and self belief. Or maybe you're thinking about taking up dancing? GO FOR IT, in six months time you could be performing a routine that you'd never in your wildest imaginations dreamt you'd be doing. I'm sure you get the gist, never quit as you'll look back in a year / two, three, and four years time and be so utterly amazed by what you're now achieving.

I receive countless messages from people telling me that they'd like to start baking / blogging, and they're almost always adamant they don't have the skills, which is of course not true. I'd never have been able to write this very blogpost when I first started out, as I struggled to think of even one sentence to write, and now look, I'm boring you all with a bloody essay *laughing face emoji*

"Find something that you're passionate about, and keep tremendously interested in it."

Oh, and do I believe that's my cue to shut up being all preachy, and stop teasing you with these strawberry doughnut milkshake cupcakes, and just share the god damn recipe with you all. Apologies if you've been salivating over these for the past five minutes while I haven't stopped rambling on...

PS: Just when you thought that you'd got rid of me, I'm back again letting anybody interested in getting into baking know, that I'll be writing a post on all of the equipment you need, along with a few tips for good measure, so keep your eyes peeled.

Do you have a hobby that you was once a bit of an amateur at? If so, please do let me, and others know in the comments as I'd absolutely love to hear your story.
